I've received a few PMs asking me about editing followers, and even after pointing some of them to the guide, they still come back with the same or new questions, which are also covered in the same guide. I'm assuming these people can't (or maybe refuse) to read, but being a magnanimous person, I decided to extract the parts related to editing, and dumb it down to a level where a 10 year old should be able to understand. If you've gone through the main guide and understood most of it, nothing here will be new to you, so you can skip it safely. For anyone who feels that the way I typed this section seems insulting to your intelligence, don't worry; like I said, it's intentionally dumbed down so that from now on, nobody is allowed to give me the excuse that it is too hard to read.

GLOSSARY:
Mesh: The shape of a 3D object. Mesh files for Skyrim are always *.NIF. Loosely referred to as "body". Texture: The "surface" of the 3D object. Textures files for Skyrim are always *.DDS. Commonly referred to as "skin" for humanoid models. Base:A lot of people keep throwing around "CBBE base" and "UNP base" without knowing what it means, just to sound smart or cool I guess. The word "base" is redundant and means nothing, because everyone who's ever download a follower or armor mod knows that CBBE and UNP arebody bases. There's no difference between "This is a CBBE follower." and "This follower uses CBBE body." and "This follower is using a CBBE body base." It's the same, damn thing. Bodyshape: Whenever I say "bodyshape", I am referring to the6body mesh files that have already been built withBodySlide, and have a unique preset's shape.
UNP / BHUNP / UUNP and all shapes built in BodySlide with them will work with all UNP-compatible textures.
CBBE / CBBE 3BBB / CBBE 3BA and all shapes built in BodySlide with them will work with all CBBE-compatible textures.
For example: "BHUNP Anabella's bodyshape is UNPC." Anabella's base body is BHUNP, but the bodyslide preset used was "UNPC", so therefore herbodyshapeis UNPC.
What does this mean?
Learn the lingo and speak proper modding language, and stop constructing imaginary words and language and trying to get me (or anyone else) to understand it.
HOW TO CHANGE MY FOLLOWER'S BODYSHAPE?
1) If you are changing a CBBE bodyshape to another CBBE bodyshape,
or a UNP bodyshape to another UNP bodyshape:Replace these 6 files in the mod's directory (every mod stores them in a different place, use "Preview File Contents" on the mod's download page to see where it's stored) with your intended files:femalebody_0.nif
femalebody_1.nif
femalehands_0.nif
femalehands_1.niffemalefeet_0.nif
femalefeet_1.nif
________________
2) If you are changing a CBBE body to UNP, or a UNP body to CBBE, you have to change both the mesh and the texture files. CBBE textures do not work with UNP meshes, and UNP textures do not work with CBBE meshes. After replacing the 6mesh files (see above), replace these 12files in the mod's directory (every mod stores them in a different place, use "Preview File Contents" on the mod's download page to see where it's stored)with your intended files:femalebody_1.dds
femalebody_1_msn.dds
femalebody_1_sk.dds
femalebody_1.s.dds
Femalehands_1.dds
Femalehands_1_msn.dds
Femalehands_1_sk.dds
Femalehands_1_s.dds
Femalehead_1.dds
Femalehead_1_msn.dds
Femalehead_1_sk.dds
Femalehead_1_s.ddsIf you read and understood the above, congratulations, you now have the ability to download ANY follower mod from anywhereand change her bodyshape to whatever you want. If the follower mod you downloaded does not have the above files, it means that the mod uses your installed bodyshape and textures. This means that your player character and your follower will have the same skin and bodyshape, and cannot be customized. Too bad.
-Where is my player character's bodyshape stored?
"Data/meshes/actors/character/female/character assets"How do I change a follower's combat style?
Use SSEedit or Creation Kit and modify the Actor form. My guide covers this, search "combat" for a faster hit.
For users whose PCs / brains shut down when they have to use either of the two programs listed above:
Download a follower framework that allows you to change their combat class. I highly recommend Nether's Follower Framework (now on Patreon for free download, good luck finding something as good or better on Nexus). You can also try EFF and AFT, I don't use those anymore but they "might" be able to do it, I cannot confirm.
How do I add / remove spells from the follower?
Same as above.
How to change / remove her default armor?
You can try giving her an armor with higher armor rating. If you want, for example, a Heavy Armor user to wear a dress, use a follower framework mod (see the "combat style" section above) or a outfit changing mode like Simple Outfit Manager. How do I change her hairstyle?
Search for "wigs" in Nexus, and give them to your follower to equip. If you want to do it the hard way (NifSkope), search for the appropriate section in the guide.
I will add more things when they come to mind / start to pile up and irritate me.

Conclusion / Thoughts:
My followers are mostly provided as-is. I only use the BHUNP versions of my follower releases (before I release them and after) but it's not difficult for me to do a CBBE equivalent, so I make CBBE versions using the same steps I typed out above; replacing 12 texture files and 6 mesh files. If all users knew how to do this, there'd be
I make attractive female followers running on basic (vanilla) A.I and combat settings. There's nothing fancy about them. Pretty face on a default follower. I do, however, customize them to my own personal liking in my own game. Sometimes I change their hair or skin or bodyshape for fun, again, using the above methods.
If you've been following my image uploads, you'll notice I spend quite some time posing them for screenshots and stuff. Their primary purpose is to look good with working facial expressions that suit their personalities (which I have penned out in their backstories and my image narratives) without them looking like clones of each other, because I like to have variety in my face creations as much as possible.
