The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt Season 2 centers on the wise and charismatic Prince Wein Salema Arbalest. When his father, King of Natra, falls ill, he is given the responsibility to look after the kingdom, and nobody thinks him to be undeserving in the least.
However, when he's sure that nobody's looking, the capable Prince Wein takes off his façade and reveals his true nature: a lazy youngster who thinks reigning over a poor kingdom is a chore and would rather sell it off so he could live in undisturbed comfort until the last of his days.
Here's the catch: Prince Wein doesn't give himself enough credit. As he tries to pretty up the kingdom with his trusty aide, Ninym Ralei, so he can sell it for a high price, he ends up making it better in every way. This interesting plot is revealed just minutes into the first episode without giving away what else is to come.
Fans of anime series revolving around a quick-witted leader who brings a community together, such as That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, How a Realist Hero Rebuilt the Kingdom, and Overlord, would do well adding this show to their list of must-sees. The similarities don't end with the familiar plotline, as their pace and storytelling are also reminiscent of each other.
The Genius Prince's Guide to Raising a Nation Out of Debt is based on a light novel of the same title written by Toru Toba and illustrated by Fal Maro. It has received fairly high ratings because of the refreshing balance it hits between fantasy and comedy.
The anime also fared well, with fans already asking about a second season now that the first one has ended.
